ANNOUNCEMENTS & NEWS
From Supervisor Dave Cortese...
Do you wish
you could follow county happenings from your own home?
I am pleased to announce that many of the Board of Supervisors
meetings and Board Committee meetings will be broadcast for home
viewing. A selection of both current and previously recorded
meetings can be seen on local cable stations. For more information
on the availability of these meetings in your area, please visit the
Santa Clara
County website or call our office at 299-5030. The
meetings can also be viewed online at
www.sccgov.org.
Do you know of
any youth who want to make a difference in their community?
Santa Clara County is looking for a group of youth to participate in
the County’s Youth Task Force. The Youth Task Force advises the
Board on issues that impact youth. This is a great opportunity for
youth in our community to actively participate in government and
make an impact on governmental decisions. Members of the Youth Task
Force gain leadership experience, develop skills in working with
people, and influence the lives of the teens in Santa Clara County.
For more information on the Youth Task Force, or if you know of
someone who would be interested in joining the Youth Task Force,
please contact Tiffany Lee in my office at 299-5030 or
tiffany.lee@bos.sccgov.org.
Looking for a
great date night?
The Tech Museum has a new monthly themed event for adults 21 and
over. This after-hours event is a great opportunity to enjoy
science, technology, and entertainment with friends. With a new
theme each month, this is great way to keep learning and expanding
your mind. For more information on this, and other Tech Museum
programs, please visit
their website.
Would you, or
do you know someone who would, like to advise the Board of
Supervisors?
There are a number of openings on
Santa Clara County’s
Boards and Commissions. Members of these boards and commissions
advise the Board of Supervisors about issues and concerns that they
see or hear about in the community. I thought that you, or someone
you know, might be interested applying for any one of the open
positions. There are many Boards and Commissions to choose from. I
have listed a few examples below to show the variety of areas
covered by our boards and commissions:
- Consumer
Affairs;
- National
Guard and Veterans Affairs;
- Senior Care;
and more.
If you would like
more information about serving on a Board or Commission or would
like to see the list of opening we have available, please visit my
website
or contact Michelle Osorio in my office by e-mail at
michelle.osorio@bos.sccgov.org or by phone at
408-299-5030.

BE A SPONSOR of FANTASY OF LIGHTS
County Parks and Recreations
Department is looking for Fantasy of Lights Sponsors. The financial
support of Sponsors will enable Parks to provide a Fantasy of Lights

event and would not be able to attend this year it it weren't for
the financial support of event sponsors.
The event is a spectacular 1.5 mile

displays, presented in Vasona County Park in Los Gatos.
